Tribal TANF Program |
The Round Valley Tribal TANF Program services focus on four components:
- To provide assistance to needy families so that their children may be cared for in their own homes.
- To end the dependence of needy parents on government benefits by promoting job preparation, work and marriage.
- Teen Pregnancy Prevention and other youth prevention services
- To encourage the formation and maintenance of two-parent families.
Service Area: Mendocino County
Program Components:
Cash Aid - to cover basic living expenses
Supportive Services to promote employment and education
Tribal TANF Cash Aid Program Key Elements:
Eligibility limited to families (adults without children or non-custodial parents are not eligible)
Time Limits
60 months in a lifetime limit for employable adults
The program focuses on work, self-sufficiency and personal responsibility; adults able to work, must satisfactorily participate in approved work activities for a minimum of 20 hours per week
Service Population
Only Round Valley Tribal Members may be served by the RVTT and their household members...
- Adult Members of the Round Valley Indian Tribes (adult member must have a natural or adopted child living in the home)
- At least one child is a member of the Round Valley Indian Tribes
- Non-needy caretakers of children enrolled with the Round Valley Indian Tribes
Cash Aid Eligibility Requirements
Income - Equal to or less than 125% of the Federal Poverty level (Click here for income guidelines)
Resources - Countable resources not to exceed $2,000.00
Other Program Services
Child Care: Available to employed families and families participating in training or attending higher education. Families must be considered "needy" and earn less than 125% of poverty based on family size to be eligible for child care assistance.
Training and Tuition: Tribal TANf will pay the cost of vocational training: tuition, books, supplies, and related expenses. Transportation costs necessary for education and training is also available to eligible families.
Emergency Services: RVTT will assist in certain emergency situations including shelter costs, vehicle expenses, utilities for families who are also eligible for cash assistance and supportive services.
